Bay to Breakfast 8K Cross Country Challenge

The scenic trail inside a state park, the after race breakfast, together with a unique medal and long sleeve tee shirt makes this race a memorable running experience.

Due to the damage by Hurricane Sally the Blue Lagoon State Park and repairs will not be completed in time for race in 2022. PRA proudly made a contribution toward the cost of repairs and hopes that the park will be safe for running in February 2023.

Race Information

The scenic trail inside a state park, the after race breakfast, together with a unique medal and long sleeve tee shirt makes this race a memorable running experience.

The Bay to Breakfast 8k trail run is back! Come enjoy a challenging trail run followed by a delicious pancake and bacon breakfast at the beautiful Big Lagoon State Park. Due to environmental protection and wildlife disturbance concerns, this race capacity is 225 runners.

Packet Pickup – Friday, February 23 from 3-6 p.m. at Running Wild. We strongly encourage all participants to come to packet pickup Friday as you will be given the race entry placard for your vehicle.

You will also receive your bib and race shirt. If it’s impossible to attend Friday’s packet pickup, you can get your packet Saturday from 6 to 7 a.m. Because this race is SOLD OUT, and we have runners who were not able to register interested in participating, any bibs not picked up by 7 a.m. will be given 1st come 1st served to those participants.

Parking – because of the limited parking spaces at Big Lagoon, we recommend that runners carpool. Please park cars at the Governor’s Pavilion parking lot. Place your Participant placard in your car’s dashboard so that the park attendant can see it.

Course details – Sand, sand and more sand is the mantra for the course. There is a lot of sand—from hard packed to pillowy soft and sand dunes to traverse. Additionally, you will be running over narrow boards over a creek where the bridge has washed out and a couple of boardwalks. Be aware of roots and stumps and after the 3 mile mark you will have several grates to run over. The course will be well-marked with arrows, flagging and mile markers. There will also be a water stop just before the 5k.

After the race, make your way to the Governor’s pavilion (just to the left of the finish line) where you can enjoy pancakes and bacon. There will be a coffee truck on site providing free coffee. There are plenty of tables around the fire place to sit and eat and visit with fellow runners.

Awards – Overall Male and Female winners as well as the 1st and 2nd place in each age group will receive an award.
