Pensacola Running Association High School Athletic Scholarship (Escambia & Santa Rosa)

Pensacola Running Association (PRA), a non- profit organization, as part of its commitment to promote the sport of running and give back to the community is pleased to announce the creation of a sport scholarship as follows:

– In 2023 the PRA will award up to $8,000 in scholarships, divided among four qualified applicants.

– The applicant is to be nominated by his or her high school coach or athletic director in a letter explaining the applicant’s athletic and academic achievement, sportsmanship, and leadership. Additional consideration will be given to the applicant’s level of community involvement.

– The applicant must also show academic achievement by submitting a letter of recommendation from the high school principal or teacher..

– The applicant must fill an application form providing contact information including phone number and address, and submit it electronically to scholarshipcommittee@pensacolarunners.com together with the above documents by May 31, 2023.

– All applications will be reviewed and screened by the Scholarship Committee and the finalist will be recommended to the PRA Board of Directors for final approval.

– The winners will be invited to the PRA board meeting on July 11th, 2023 and presented with a check. The winners will be identified with their photos on the PRA website and other social media, and presented with a certificate acknowledging this achievement.

Emma Simon and Jack Tyner are the recipients of the 1st Annual Pensacola Runners Association Scholarship Awards. Both Emma and Jack received a $1,000 check from PRA for their athletic accomplishments this year while also demonstrating academic excellence and community service support. Emma will be attending Alabama State University and Jack will be attending The University of Mobile. Both student-athletes will continue to compete at the next level and we will continue to follow them. We look forward also to their return home for our PRA races in the future.
