Fiesta Pensacola 10k, 5k Run & 5k Walk

Saturday, May 3, 2025
Dear Fiesta 5k/10k Runners,
Pensacola Runners’ Association had to make a difficult decision at 5 am this morning.
Our first priority in all of our races is to ensure the safety and welfare of our participants and volunteers! The race committee made the decision in the pouring rain to cancel the run based on the lightning and thunder that was occurring and forecasted to continue beyond our race timeline window. Believe me, after months of planning and working on this event, we are as disappointed as you!
The Fiesta Race is different from our other races in that runners are being transported to start lines where they have to wait for up to an hour prior to start time. In both locations, there is no shelter or protected areas for runners to wait. Additionally, if we had to cancel at that point, there would be limited buses, which meant that people would be waiting for up to an hour for transportation back to the finish. Another factor in our decision was that we were going to have 50+ volunteers out in the weather working water stops and serving as race marshals with no shelter and/or transportation.
Unfortunately, due to permit requirements, we are unable to reschedule this race. The City/State permit process takes 6+ months and is only for a specified date and timeframe.
The Pensacola Police Officers, Fire Department EMT’s, bus drivers, traffic management involving six miles of cones and course set-up crews were contracted for race day only.
For that reason, rescheduling was not an option.
For those participants who were planning to pick up their bibs and shirts on race day, we invite you to attend the free Global Running Day event to be held Wednesday, June 4 at Running Wild. Shirt pick-up will start at 4:00 pm.
Pensacola Runners’ Association appreciates our members and runners’ support and loyalty and look forward to seeing you at future races and events!

Sincerely,
Candace Gibson

A Race Through History!

The Fiesta 5 and 10K races have been held since 1974, making this the 51st Fiesta event. These beloved point-to-point races showcase downtown Pensacola beginning at Pensacola State College (10K) and 12th Avenue (5K) and wind their way through East Hill ending at historic Seville Quarter. Each participant will receive a gender-specific locally designed singlet and medal. The post-race party features a selection of food, drinks, and vendors from our generous sponsors.

Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female competitors, overall masters, overall grandmasters, overall senior grandmasters, and top 3 in each 5-year age group. Limited walker awards will be presented to the 5K walking competitors. This year the 5K is an RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) championship race and will offer cash prizes to the top 3 male and female 5K competitors.

Buses will be available from 6-7am at the finish line to transport participants to each start line. Participants should confirm they are boarding the correct bus for their races! No post-race transportation is available.

Packet pickup will be available at Running Wild (3012 E. Cervantes St.) from 3-6 pm on May 2nd. Race day packet pickup is available May 3rd at Seville Quarter from 6-6:45 am. Packet pickup will close promptly at 7am in order to ensure all competitors are able to take the buses to the starting lines.

Per the City of Pensacola race permit, No dogs are permitted. Strollers are allowed, but we request participants with strollers line up at the back as to not impede the start line.
